I just started reading Linda Bylers books and so far have not been disappointed, this was a very good book and I can't wait to read the second in the series if I ever get it from Amazon as it has been on back order for some time.

This book is very interesting as it brings crimes from the outside world to the Amish. Sadie really needs to trust God as nothing in her protected live has prepared her for the evil she encounters.

Strong characters that were very well defined. Found myself emotionally attached to each one. Definitely a read I would recommend.

About the Author

Anna Dewdney was a teacher, mother, and enthusiastic proponent of reading aloud to children. She continually honed her skills as an artist and writer and published her first Llama Llama book in 2005. Her passion for creating extended to home and garden and she lovingly restored an 18th century farmhouse in southern Vermont. She wrote, painted, gardened, and lived there with her partner, Reed, her two daughters, two wirehaired pointing griffons, and one bulldog. Anna passed away in 2016, but her spirit will live on in her books.

We are a Llama Llama family, my older grands all love the books and now I am purchasing them for one of the youngers. This is the third Llama Llama book I've purchased for her since October and so far she seems to love them just like her cousins. The simple rhymes in a very short card board book is just the right length for a little one starting books. The colorful pictures are very detailed and she points to things that interest her as I read. These small books are just the right size for little ones to carry around. I recommend Llama Llama to kids of all ages, from toddlers just starting out with these small cardboard books, to preschoolers who move on to the larger paper backs, to early readers who start reading to themselves! Llama Llama Jingle Bells has little Llama seeing all the sights of this magical season. Perfect for the toddlers and preschoolers on your Christmas list!

This was in the top 5 Christmas bedtime story books we read to our 2 year old this year. For some reason he really loved the last page where Mama Llama is carrying Baby Llama up to bed. He would say "babyyyy" every time I reached that page. My son and I are big fans of the Llama Llama books and this one did not disappoint. The drawings and story captured his attention and he asked to be read this book every night before bedtime.

I like the book, as does my daughter. We love llamas! I gave the book 4 starts because when it came it was cut along the back like a box cutter got it or something.

My kids have treasured every one of her books. This one is Great. Since the author's untimely death, there won't be any more of her charming llama tales. A loss.

Good book for young kids. It is thick and no worry for tearing. My daughter likes the book and even though she is older now we still read the story each December. Llama llama books are cute and great for younger kiddies. I would say begging readers should be able to read this book.

Adorable book! I purchased this for our literary advent calendar tradition. The 12 days of Christmas, done with a book each night. Perfect for our two year old daughter! Would buy again!

People complain about this book but I think it is short, sweet and cute. A very young child will be just fine with it. Use your skills and ask your child questions, point to the toboggan, the colors, the stripe clothing, etc...an appropriate learning resource for the season.

This board book is adorable. I take care of a now 14 month old little girl and she has Llama Llama Nighty Night, Llama Llama Wakey Wake, and Llama Llama Trick or Treat - I honestly enjoy reading every single one with her and she adores Llama Llama as well. I love the story line for this Christmas version - Llama delivers a gift to his friend and they exchange hugs (cute that the gift is a book), Llama becomes excited thinking of Santa and what 'Llama Santa' may bring, then he goes home with Mama Llama and they bake cookies together, decorate, leave Santa a snack, and mama carries little llama up for bed. The end of the book is llama coming down the stairs Christmas morning with delight. I think the book touches on great concepts of being excited for Santa, giving to others as well as receiving, plus Christmas activities little ones can relate to such as baking cookies. The rhymes make sense and flow great. I think some people may have been disappointed by how long the book is.. but it's just as long as any of the other llama BOARD books - Dewdey has longer books for an older crowd as well. (Try Llama Llama Holiday Drama)I recommend this book for any age, possibly up to 4 (I'm sure even a 5 year old would think it's cute) but it's definitely more suitable for the younger babies/toddlers whose attention spans aren't well - developed yet.

Wonderful books! This will be a xmas gift and I always get two, one for my house and one for hers.

About the Author

Avraham Perlmutter was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1927. A Holocaust survivor, he emerged with a positive perspective on life—choosing to focus on the people who helped him rather than those set on defeating him. After World War II, he fought in the Israeli War of Independence to help establish the State of Israel. He went on to pursue his education in the United States, earning a PhD in aeronautical engineering. Fluent in seven languages, he is an award-winning scientist and a successful businessman. Avraham currently lives in Santa Monica, California, with his wife, Ruth. Together they have four children and five grandchildren. He continues to share his story with community groups and schools and through his Shoah Foundation interview—hoping to inspire people to help others in need, achieve an education, and overcome difficulties in pursuit of their dreams.

This is actually a very fast-paced autobiography of an amazing child, young man, man. Persecution from the Nazis, bold escapes, hiding and risk-taking. He remembers the names of those with him, who helped him, where was and how he survived. I was mesmerized. He wraps it all up by telling you his entire life story, how he made his life happen against seemingly unsurmountable odds. This is worth a read to anyone interested in the era, WWII, or heroes.

I love real life stories and this was well told. I learned more about the founding of the nation of Israel and subsequent wars that were very informative. Av was an amazing man and lived a remarkable life.

This book starts out as a heartbreaking chronicle of an 11-year-old Jewish boy trying to escape the horrors of Hitler's Germany. He spends the years from 1939 until 1945 hiding out and being hidden from Nazi troopers. He is captured and escapes, is nearly blown to bits by an artillery shell, hides in terror in physically torturous places and emerges as an admirable young man with a positive attitude. He expresses gratitude for the Christians who risked their lives to save him.The book ends with his later life, He marries and becomes the patriarch of a wonderful family of high-achieving descendants.The only draw back to the narrative ist he plethora of characters with hard to remember names.

This is an excellent book written from the memories of the heroic nature of good people against evil to save the innocent. It's in the sharing of Dr. Abraham Perlmutter's life story that we see that bravery it took to survive. I've read many accounts of this time, mostly with horrific ending of life, I am relieved and rejoice in this man's life and the the continued contribution to mankind by himself and his progeny. This book, told in frank, educated language, is moving and brought me to tears and made my heart ache. I was very sad to learn that his journals during this time were lost in the bombing of his last war time home - in the barn. I recommend this book highly. Those that appreciate personal testimony and the conquering spirit of those that fought to survive, Determined to surivive, and then helped the war effort, will enjoy and respect this book.I will have to buy a hardback copy for my library. I recommend people everywhere to include this book in their library too and encourage others, especially the young, to read it.

At first I thought the story hard to read as in finding a rhythm of word flow. It took awhile, but soon the content was engaging enough that I was distracted from that style of writing. This man is truly remarkable in his endurance, drive and intelligence. How he could remember all those details is unbelievable. A very good book of a man's spirit of survival and determination to beat the odds against him. What an inspiration!

I'm glad that I chose to read this book. It's a great story of a young man's determination to live through the Holocaust and the people and circumstances that helped him. One of the better historical novels of that period. Would recommend.

This is a great book. Having grown up hearing and reading about about the Holocaust, this first-hand story was extremely interesting. It also had some stressful moments while reading some of the stories about the author being hunted by the German soldiers.
