I have an electronics background, and this book is well written and most informative. There is no single book that a vintage-radio hobbyist or enthusiast can claim is the "best," but this book is certainly one of the best. It's nice when an author like Mr. Corbin who has so much knowledge takes the time to put it down in writing so that it can be shared with others.

At first I was hesitant in purchasing ARR&R because the book was spiral bound book. I am so happy I did buy it because it is EXCELLENT! Where other books give explanations and directions, assuming the reader already understands certain procedures or elements of electronics, Mr. Corbin does an outstanding job of explaining not only radio restoration, but the electronics that's involved in easy to understand language without talking down to the reader or overestimating their background knowledge. Wonderful definitions and simple, yet complete explanations make you feel like you're sitting down with a good friend that's telling you about his beloved hobby. It's not a stiff, class text book. It's a well done book with large type that's easy on your eyes and the brain cells! I'd love to see it in hardback or even a nice paperback if a fifth edition comes out.

Well written and easy to understand if you commit the time to it. There is a lot of material here. I recently got into repairing old radios and this helped with understanding them better. I purchased 4 books on the subject and hit the library. This was the most useful to help teach me how they work. I do wish it had a wire spiral binding rather than the plastic though.

Getting ready to retire and am looking for something to keep me busy, what could be more fun than tinkering around with those old, classic radio beauties? I was looking for a book for the complete beginner, I'm no dummy but by page 50 my head was hurting. So this book did not suit me well but I'm sure I can use it as a reference guide once I build up knowledge. Great for those with a background in electronics, but if you are just starting out I would recommend something else.

Enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who's considering working on these old tube radios, either for themselves or perhaps for others as well. Mr. Corbin is doubtlessly qualified and has put together a book that will be beneficial in many ways. Some things seem to get repeated several times, but that may be an intentional move to reinforce important points. In addition, I found an occasional mistake in one or two of the schematics, but nothing that would impede learning from this otherwise well done volume.

This was a good refresher of what I learned in Radio/TV Shop in the 60's. The author should really think about reviewing the content for typos and errors. The references to schematics were lacking and a lot of schematics were unreadable. I would recommend this to others though.

Good stuff in here. Just that it needs more detail. I'm trying to find books from the experienced restorer on how to start, what to expect, and how to start with a walk-through to the polished case. Didn't quite find it in this book though.

The title and description of this book are most misleading. Instead of a how-to, the author spends most of his pages on basic theory and test equipment. He even covers transistors, although they didn't appear until the last years of his 1920-1960 coverage. Oddly, he covered the "AA5" radios in-depth, but barely mentioned the TRF as a design choice. Most folks I know think to the Atwater Kents, Crosleys, and RCA Radiola as antique radio examples - but not this author. Sad. Almost four pages are devoted to 'Cosmetic Repairs', with a third of that spent admonishing the reader to not pull a vacuum tube out of it's socket by the envelope. All in all, a disappointing book and I wish I had my $ back! I thought it was in poor taste to include a folded sheet of the author's available restoration services, including prices, in the book!edit 1-12-17. Amazon credited my CC, but did not send me a return label. When contacted by phone, and yes, you can talk to a CS person at Amazon by phone, I was told to "do with it what I wanted to". Due to their refund, I improved the product rating to thee stars - again, mainly due to Amazon's refund.

About the Author

Joe Giron's professional career began in 1983 as a staff photographer for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in Texas. A chance assignment to shoot an up-and-coming local band led to a lasting friendship with one of hard rock's most revered bands, Pantera. That, in turn, led to shooting many other artists, including AC/DC, David Bowie, Gwen Stefani, Van Halen, and U2, just to name a handful, for many of the world's leading rock magazines. Today, his niche is in the gaming industry as the photographer for the World Poker Tour and head of the official photography team at the World Series of Poker. He lives in Las Vegas. Rex Brown was born in 1964 in Graham, Texas. He joined Pantera in 1982 and has also played with Down. His new band, Kill Devil Hill, is climbing the charts. He is the author of Official Truth, 101 Proof: The Inside Story of Pantera. He lives in New Mexico. Gabriel Kuo began his career working in the music industry at Rolling Stone, Sony Music, and MTV. He then formed the design studio BRM, working with clients such as Adidas, ESPN, and Heineken, as well as projects for Ghostface Killah, Maroon 5, The Misshapes, and Kanye West.

Turn just the first few pages of this book, and you'll know that you are holding more than a rock and roll book. This is a historical document. Photographer Joe Giron had full access to Pantera in some of the band members' most intimate moments. Side-by-side with never-before-told behind the scenes stories, "A Vulgar Display of Pantera" is an essential part of rock history. This is a sturdy, quality book, and Giron's work looks amazing on the full-color pages. If you know any Pantera fans, this is going to be #1 on their Christmas list. Guaranteed.

Saying something is a must gets tossed around a lot. But in all honesty as a Pantera fan, it really is. This one is worth every penny. Some truly beautiful pictures. Now I thought I have seen a lot of Pantera pictures, even looking through Joe Giron's website, and a lot of photo shoots became familiar, but still so many I haven't seen before. Some really great candid ones (I attached one of my favorites from the book). I was surprised how many early days photos there were, even more than the last days. I really like the index of this book too, my only thing is I would have liked for the pictures there to have been in full color. The perfect coffee (beer) table book for us metalheads who used to go out to see them some 15 and more years ago. This will really bring you back to those days of being a fan.

Just received the book and its great..But just to let you know its basically a photo album there is maybe 5 min worth of reading in it...BUT ITS GREAT...

Pantera fans will be blown away by this visual history of the band. From their glam beginnings in Dallas to their rise to the top of the rock world, photographer Joe Giron caught it all and shares these intimate images in this beautiful book. A must see for any fan of the band.

This is an awesome book in every way! It is quite interesting and has the most amazing pictures some of which bring you to tears because of the horrific and senseless murder of Dime. This book is a MUST HAVE for any Pantera Fan. In this case, you CAN judge a book by its cover. It is a beautiful coffee table book!

Must have for any and all Pantera fans. Great photos.

Come on now, if you are a true Pantera fan there is no reason not to fork up for this book, or use some of that gift card you got for Christmas. It is a great book to just have around for checking out on the table. Really cool pictures. RIP Dime

The magical realism-touched world is beautifully crafted and totally enchanting. The premise is unique and absorbing. I also have to give mad props for the deft way the author reverses traditional literary (especially YA) gender roles--the male love interest has a touch of manic pixie dream boy about him, which just makes my heart grow three sizes. The heroine is much more confident in herself, her choices, and her heart--it's a refreshing change of pace for perennial YA readers who may be tired of "adorably awkward" characters.I blew through this--it's a sweet, satisfying read. Definitely recommend.

I absolutely adored this book. No one should rule over love ever! I would love to know about Fallon and Sebastian's future. But for now I'm happily content with how the story ended. It's cute and has a lot of turns I wasn't expecting but in the end I was happy and wished for the same kind of love that these two fought so hard for!

Well, what is not to love about a book on accounting fraud...a bit of sarcasm there...but it is a comprehensive book on financial fraud. Well done.

Well written covers all key issues about the AUDING PROFESSION

The book was defective. My daughter needed it for a course for her Masters in Accountancy. She had to borrow a book to get what she needed and was inconvenienced having to do that even though we paid for her own book.The book is correct until chapter 10 when the page number jumps from 86 to 55, then the next chapter is a repeat of chapter 8 then 9 and 10 again. After that the 2nd chapter ten jumps from page 86 to 119.

I really like this book. I use it in my advance auditing class as a combination of audit history and cautionary tale. Paul does a great job summarizing some of the most influential auditing scandals and their resulting impact on the profession. The book carefully balances the underlying intrigue of the scandals with enough of the technical details to enable the reader to understand what happened. The chapters are short and very readable. The book is particularly helpful in teaching students the evolution to today's government regulated audit. There are those who want us to believe the Sarbanes-Oxley Act was a knee jerk reaction. Through the telling of these cases, the author makes a compelling case that the auditor- client relationship is a significant challenge to the higher ideals of auditing. One that has progressively led to more governmental oversight in an attempt to find the right balance where investors receive the unbiased information they need at a reasonable cost to the company.I highly recommend this book to those who believe in some golden era of auditing where all auditors were pure as the driven snow. That said, we must always be careful to remember that these are the more spectacular cases, and do not necessarily reflect "norms" of audit practice.

The product was not on time, and as a result I received the product very late. Was very inconvenient to me, especially when I was expecting to have it at a certain date

My daughter and son who are both accounting professors have both used this text (and the 1st Edition as well) for several years and they rave about it and how much their students love it. I have read it myself and found it very informative and easy to read.
