This book pulls guitar practice kicking and screaming into the 21st century. It's very readable, not dry or dusty and full of amusing anecdotes, more like a fireside chat, than a text book.The prime concept of the book is that if we use the definition of insanity to be "doing the same thing, in the same way another time, and expecting a different result" most of our guitar practicing is pretty insane, because we do the same things the same way again and again and expect a different result. Steve breaks that cycle by suggesting there's a better way, that can be more successful, and it's rational, logical, and complimentary with modern learning theories and methods.Bonus is Kindle version is less than a cup of coffee, and the proceeds go to a good cause.

Learning a new instrument usually starts off with excitement and motivation, which then quickly turns to rote routines and boredom. Practice Less, Play More brings back the joy of making music by introducing new ways to learn the guitar that focus on actual playing and musicianship skills.I am implementing these ideas in my practice sessions, and I now look forward to time with my guitar.If you are currently stuck running the same scales and random chords over and over again, this book may be the shakeup you need.

Steve , I appreciate your insight that this book has giving me in such a short time. i've not put it down since it arrived. Reading Chapter 5 now as we speak, I recommend this book to ANYONE who has been wanting/playing guitar as a beginner or intermediate player. Getting organized for me was a struggle in the beginning and still have issue with it, but now I see I can overcome that type of thinking and start having winning streaks everyday!! This is the book i would have liked 38yrs ago when i 1st started playing. This common sense approach well it's uncommon in that it makes perfect sense for beginning guitarists. Like Steve writes it won't make you a Hendrix or a Clapton but it will get you playing music after that you're the one holding you back. A quality book for a great price.

I have only read the first 30 pages so far and I am Super Stoked now about learning this new method. I think this will be my “launchpad” I always needed. Great job Steve aka VØID
