As the author of this publication my main motivation was to convey my enjoyment of the game of American Football and share some of the things I had experienced as I journeyed around the United States visiting various cities and enjoying the league that is the NFL. As I visited more and more venues I started to notice different practices and fan rituals on gameday, as well as physical and structural differences in all the stadia I was visiting. I loved the personalisation each team had brought to their home grounds, the pirate galleon at Tampa Bay, the stampeding horses outside Denver's stadium and the large panthers in Carolina to name a few. There are 31 stadia in the NFL and all are a little different with personalities that make a trip to the ballgame more than just the event of two teams playing against each other.This book is not a travel guide, nor is it a photo album of external stadia shots. It is a concise insight into the history of each stadium and a look at the architecture and gameday nuances of each team. There are plenty of pictures, plus seating diagrams and location maps for each venue with no bias to any particular franchise. Students who are going through a course SHOULD NOT buy this Kindle book. It DOES NOT include Connect content which has many items professors will refer to. Get it directly from the publisher's site instead. If you've already bought it you can return it though even if it's beyond the 7 day return period if you contact them through chat and mention the false description that says it includes access to multimedia Connect content.

It's all right. A little more simplistic than I'd like, but it's meant to be a broad introduction and that's what it is. I understand this is a pretty well-regarded textbook. Includes great full-color stills from both classics and newer films. I would say the main difference between this and other editions (I also own the 6th edition) is that some of the examples in the tenth edition are taken from newer films than those in the sixth edition.

I had to buy this book for a class, and I have found it to be exceptionally organized and extremely useful for theory. If I were to teach a film class tomorrow, this book would be on my syllabus.

There is and was so much I did not know about film until this class, and this text book. I love it, I am not taking the class anymore and I did not have to read much out of the book but I read the whole thing. I absolutely recommend keeping if you plan on working in the film industry. It does blow your mind.

This was a requirement for my first film class, but older editions without the online code are cheap enough now that I'd recommend it even for a reference or a summer read for someone who loves movies or film making.It covers editing, photography, filming, lighting, set, acting, directing, roles on a film set, industry basics...everything.I even bought a new copy as a gift for an art-loving friend and she LOVED it.

I ended up not taking the class that required this book, but it would've been exactly what I needed. I hope to take it in the future. It is very informative. There's a lot more aspects that I had not thought before.

When I got this book it was around $60 on amazon to buy, and at my school's bookstore they were selling it for $150-$200. This was one of the most effective purchases I have ever made, not only for the price but the extremely extensive and real life information this book provides. Perfect for a first year film student, or anyone curious in the art.

Great book, very informative and easy to understand! Although the condition I got it in wasn't ideal (I had to put a protective cover on it), it came really quickly and useful for any film classes (theory or studio).

I much prefer this version because of the interactive question and answers that helped me estimate my understanding of the material. The companion takes just a few minutes to set up and is even quicker if you already have an account with the company because then you just log in and put in the code you receive. You can access the material anytime and there is no expiration date. Great resource for years to come.

I really like the explinations of patho for the different disease process, sometimes the patho explinations in the main textbook are too in depth. This is also a great read for writing clniical paperwork to understand quicklyl the condition that your patient has. If you do not have time to do all the assigned reading for a course you can also reference this for the most common disease proccsses related to what you are learning.

I love this book probably more than the big original one. It is so easy to carry around, refresh a subject fast, and has the down and dirty of the text! Get this if you have to get the big one, you will not regret​ it!!

I purchased this book to use as a quick reference during clinical rotations. It's full of a lot of good information. It describes the pathophysiology of various diseases and lists nursing diagnoses, interventions, and drug therapy for each condition. The only complaint I have is that I'd only used it for about a month and the pages started falling out.

Well written and worth every penny! Easy to carry along to clinicals. Nice descriptions, clinical manifestations, diagnostic studies, collaborative care, nursing management,interventions, goals, and teaching for patient and caregivers.Obviously not as detailed as the 2 volume hardcover set of Lewis, but perfect for quick lookup when faced with a new diagnosis for patient, and need answers for your instructor. Also has a nice reference appendix in the back with EKG info, trach care, injection sites, O2 administration, lab values, and lots more! It's the best book I have purchased since starting nursing school. Wish I'd had it in first semester!

I think this book was a great purchase. It is small enough to take to clinical. This book has a lot of information about many different diseases. Each disease has a section on description, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, diagnostic studies, collaborative care, nursing management etc. Everything you will need to know about a disease when you're in the clinical setting. Great purchase!

I'm in my last semester as a nursing student and I wish I got this book sooner. Gives great synapsis of different diagnosis. The only down side is the pages and fragile and I bend it all the way open because I'm afriad the pages will fall out.

This is a little gem - no one in my class knew there was this little companion book to go along side of the main book. This little book is an excellent summary book and easy to carry to clinical!

To me the 4 Ps are all interconnected, people determines the philosophy which determines the purpose and processes. Some parts are repetitive, but it's still well worth the money. The best is still the original Toyota way, more operational and down to earth

The book is great and if you are dedicated to change as per the roadmap in the book I will indeed change the way you do things on your factory floor

Simply speaking, you cannot say lean organization without saying lean leadership. Through a balance of theory, practical steps and story telling, Liker & Convis describe the essential ingredients for organizations to prosper in the decade to come. It is an easy read, with concepts that challenges thinking of most contemporary businesses, and once you start thinking of the implications, it even challenges your individual contributions to the world of work.- Confirmation that the five values that define Toyota Way: spirit of challenge, Kaizen, genchi genbatsu (go and see to deeply understand), teamwork, and respect, do not automatically result in leadership. Trust is an essential, if not the key, element of leadership. Hard cuts, though sometimes inevitable as the Dana case study shows, must be a last resort.- Liker & Convis offer a clear explanation of Toyota's leadership development model. Basically, this model consists of 4 levels: (1)commit to self-development, (2) coach and develop others,(3) support daily kaizen, (4) create vision and align goals. We see the importance of "True North" as overarching vision, which is central to decision making. We see the importance of lean leadership throughout the hierarchy, a need for shared responsibility according to expertise and the concept of leadership as a team sport. Last but not least, we see the importance of first line managers to provide a role model for the behavior they want to see in place.- The Toyota Way focuses on culture of leadership rather than metrics or processes, and links the cultivation of leadership, as a leader's primary responsibility. Personally, we were especially impressed by the ways Toyota dealt with its triple crisis (recession, recalls due to technical problems, earthquake & Tsunami). Although facing severe economic problems, the company resisted the temptation to "manage" the crisis by layoffs and used this it as an opportunity to learn and improve instead. In Liker's words: "The recommended solution to these problems wasn't fundamental change but increased attention to fundamentals." This also underscores the interconnection between corporate culture, strategy, and leadership. In other words: attention to culture and leadership is not optional as both have strong impact on the company's business value and success.- Acknowledgement that not all individuals are predisposed to leadership and that an enabling environment is not enough. An emphasis on self-development, a passion to learn and grow in pursuit of mastery. What we appreciated most was the emphatic exclusion of quick fix solutions and the repeated emphasis on ensuring you start with the right people and deliberately grow leaders from there. Progress is discussed in terms of decades, not even years and definitely not in months. This underscores the long-term if not life-long commitment required to grow a lean organization. If there is a recipe for Toyota's success, according to Liker & Convis "it is a deep, time-consuming, and expensive investment in developing everyone in the organization, and truly believing that your employees are your most precious resource."- Valuable reference points and benchmarks of lean leadership presented in a way that encouraged us to think "how would we have behaved in that situation," which is an enriching exercise even if you are well versed in the values and principles of lean leadership.*What we ask ourselves*- Is leadership still privilege of line management? There are some hints towards leadership as a team sport but it is not fully explored. Isn't there more interplay between coaching employees and receiving feedback from them, aligning and developing yourself by helping others, getting fresh impulses for your vision?- What are the risks or downsides of lean leadership? What could be a potential pitfall to lead in a lean way? How do lean leaders cope with conflicts fostered by fear as much as denial? Does "Toyota Way" necessarily mean there is no disagreement let alone resistance at all?- How does it work in other areas than the automotive industry? Are the case studies of lean leadership outside of Toyota? What about the broader context of economic turbulence? Is the Toyota Way to be applied anytime anywhere? Does it guarantee infinite success?- How we can truly recognize culture in all its dimensions and how would existing cultures map, over time, to lean leadership? Where to start when an organization and its management are not lean yet? What exactly is the path that leads us from traditional command-and-control to lean management?- Where does the broader context of management, its improvement and renewal fit into lean leadership, as discussed by other authors such as John Kotter, Henry Mintzberg, Stephen Denning, Seth Kahan?- How do employees perceive and experience lean leadership? Clearly not all employees are destined to be lean leaders, and some that are, will not be on an "accelerated" path. How do lean leaders position themselves relative to employees, and how do they draw on the potential and insights of employees?- How many organizations would have the capacity and appetite to embark on a journey of lean leadership? It feels to us there is an intermediate step that is buried in Toyota's past that we are not privileged to. Liker & Convis however state that you should be able to reach it in 10 to 30 years. Is that a realistic, let alone attractive option for organizations which face an average life-expectancy of less than 20 years?*What we got out of the book*- A stark reminder that true leadership is an essential yet endless, time-consuming and expensive commitment that regresses the moment you stop injecting energy.- There are no quick fixes and no recipes. Even with lean leadership baked into the culture of Toyota, they still have to pay constant attention to its development.- The true depth of concepts, like Kaizen and gemba walks, that have been watered down through poor interpretation.- The significant relationship and context required when coaching leaders.- Respect for people, not as a gentle approach but offering constant challenges to encourage individuals and teams to reach beyond their comfort zone. Respect must not be an excuse for letting things go.
