I love this planner! I use it to keep track of my meals - nothing fancy, just a quick log. It's enough space to make notes and I love the checkboxes - easy to make a quick note for meal ingredients. I use the monthly calendar pages to plan out dinners.The pages have a nice texture and are thick enough that regular pen doesn't bleed through and highlighter holds up.I leave this out on my desk at work and the cover is holding up nicely.If you are someone who enjoys coloring - there are plenty of designs you could color throughout the book, but they still look nice in black & white, too.Perfect for what I am using it for - if you are looking for some serious planning, I would go with something that has more space.

It wasn't worth my money, I thought it would have inspirational or funny quotes. Just sheets to write on.

After I already started writing in it, I realized there are no holidays printed on the date. I liked having the reminders. Probably too late to return so I will be looking for a different calendar. If that isn't important to you, all other aspects of this calendar were good- size, cover, layout, quotes, etc.

Love the size. It has a lot of space to write and best of all it has SAT and SUN as full size in the weekly..perfect for shift workers. With tabs for the monthly and spiral or disc binding I would give it 5*....Not sure how the binding will last as it is glued only. Please make this for 2020 with strong cover and either spiral ord disc binding and you have me happy forever. For the lack of tabs I simply used some stickers.

I was excited about this mostly because of the words on the outside and space for to do list as well as notes per day.But I'm only 3 days in to the new year and the cover has already torn in the corner by the binding from opening it to write in. :( That was dissapointing, sort of like scratching your new car! LOLBut overall I still like it.

Just what I was looking for in a planner, plenty of room to jot down everything from dinner plans to work and exercise schedules, kidsâ€™ activities and an at a glance monthly calendar too! Nice cover and quality paper.

I thought itâ€™s really cute and would love it. Itâ€™s so sad but I was disappointed when I received it. Itâ€™s really cheap made. Front cover is pretty thin and papers are rough and hard to write on. Also it doesnâ€™t have the year calendar or other information that most planners have. I hope they improve the quality because itâ€™s really cute design wise.

This book did a good job of presenting the different generations and explaining how the times in which the grew up and lived influence their attitudes. He gives good strategies to help the various generations understand each other better, and communicate to solve problems. The whole book is about working with other generations in a business environment. I read it to understand different generations in a ministry environment. I did find some helpful things, though the book was not specifically written to address ministry relationships. Many issues come together when you work together in ministry: personality, culture, background, and generations. This book helped me understand the generation aspect.

This book is AMAZING. Every working professional should read this book. And then read it again. Really though, there's something for everyone to take away from this. Not only is it educational, it also made me laugh from time to time. I'm not sure that was always the intent - but sometimes he really hit the nail on the head with my generation so blatantly that it made me laugh out loud and cheer.

Heydn flexed his intellect with this book. His razor sharp understanding of the differences in generations is profound. His motivation clarity is insightful. His descriptions spot on target. My son was a reluctant reader. Besides "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" he wasn't impressed with books, until this series came along. He loves it, reads to us from it, retells parts from it. It is witty, imaginative and fun.

I choose this rating because it is now my favorite book. This book has everything such as...*It is super funny.*It has action and adventure.*It has pretty cool illustrations.I loved everything about this book. I liked the writing style and also liked how they lived in this made up place called Oslo.I would recommend this book to everyone. If you like adventure it has it, if you like comedy it has it, it has some serious parts but it is mostly silly. This is my new favorite book of all time.

My 8yo loves this book. It's funny and it's a chapter book! Not a comic book! Nothing in the story is inappropriate. It's all good clean fun. I'm also happy the main character is a girl. She's not a pretty princess. Usually the books my boy has are all about boys. Highly recommend.

Not sure the translation was great. Reading it aloud to my 8 year old was...clunky...the concept was great, but something got lost in the translations...

But who knew how much work went into the meticulous mathematical calculations that placed our American astronauts onto the cover of modern history. Some of these hard working professionals were not only trend setters in their field, but they were also young African American women, who had determined their way into the National Aeronautics and Space Administration position by position, having to over-prove their brilliance every step of the way.Dorothy Vaughn, Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, and Christine Darden should be unforgettable.While quite interesting, this book did not seem written for "young readers", for the information is quite technical at times and more suited for a textbook than informal reading. However, it's a story that needed to be told and I applaud the author for telling it.

Easy reading and lots of info on the serious racial discrimination in the state of Virginia and Prince Edward, country. Schools closed for five years to avoid compliance with the law.

I love the stories and information in this book. Do not read it if you are expecting a smoothly flowing narrative story. Everytime you think you are about to hit a narrative and get some rising action, the author flips to another story. The timeline and details are great. Definitely a lot of research has been put into this book. It reads really dry. It is hard to keep the flow of the story. If you are interested in the time frame and subject matter it is a definite must read.

An awesome book. I would recommend this for readers of all ages! While the original Hidden Figures is an amazing book, it is almost more a reference than a story. The amount of detail is a bit overwhelming, even for the avid readers in my book club. And so, I believe that the Young Readers' Edition is a more accessible version of the book for the majority of readers.

Today..... in the year 2017.....it is amazing what we have missed or forgotten in our lifeline....this story is an eye opener for sure...I grew up in a home that harboured no prejudices of any kind...heard stories...but did not experience anything first hand...thank God we are moving in the right direction...just wish it was faster...

I'm so proud of these women whose stories were finally told. I lived in the Hampton Roads area and never heard of these three phenomenal trailblazers in my history books. Katherine Johnson, Mary Jackson, and Dorothy Vaughn did their jobs with pride, grace, and dignity.

Has very nice pictures of stitches, in color. Generally pretty easy to see the stitches clearly. Much superior to many needlepoint books in that regard. Includes many interesting bargello patterns. It does not do the best job of instructing you how to make stitches. It would not be my choice for my only needlepoint book, but is an excellent addition to my small collection of them.

I had taken this book out of the library and it was so fantastic, I just HAD to purchase it. This book is excellent, full of great stitches, some that I had not seen anywhere else.

Found this at the library and loved it so much that I decided to buy one. That way it could be a ready reference. It is very thorough, yet easy to refer to. Glad I got it!

I was among the throngs in the 2017 Science March in Washington DC, which according to the Wikipedia authors included as many as 100,000. Other marches around the world were also well-attended. Washington's Peoples Climate March the following week was twice as large. Yet both marches saw an abundance of anti-GMO signage,with seemingly far less genetic engineering advocacy. The contradictions were jarring.Lynas, a former anti-GMO activist, does a creditable job to retrace his shift of opinion and to give all sides -- even the much-maligned Monsanto -- a fair hearing with appropriate context.In doing so, Lynas elevates SEEDS OF SCIENCE to a higher level; this is a book Dean Schooler Science, Scientists, and Public Policy, 1971, 338 pages with illustrations. or Thomas Kuhn The Structure of Scientific Revolutions might appreciate.Because .. .1. It demonstrates that evidence-based progress in science is deeply affected by organizational, political and social factors.2. It demonstrates that professional and government associations can be important, if not universally persuasive. Lynas cites the AAAS, WHO, AMA, National Academy of Sciences, British Royal Society among others -- as influencing his own views and helping to advance lay education broadly.5. Lynas indirectly warns that even as international groups edge toward open science, more flexible peer review, and less medieval publishing practices, even well-funded sources can be denied an equal voice. They can simply be shouted down, as has been done across the European Union.6. And the science is pretty clear -- GMOs are no different than plants modified using other techniques that we humans have been using for millennia. He apologized. Since then, he has worked for the other side. That has often meant traveling to Africa and Asia to work with plant scientists who are helping small farmers in developing countries cope with pests, disease and drought. Genetic engineering is not just Monsanto any more. Local scientists too have the tools to use it.Indeed, Mark Lynas doesn't promote Monsanto and its Roundup-Ready commercial crops like corn, soybeans and canola or its commercialized Bt cotton. He notes that Monsanto's patent on Roundup has expired, so Chinese chemical companies now produce a generic version. Monsanto's initial patent on Roundup-Ready soybeans has also expired, so farmers are free to save and plant those seeds.He focuses instead on seeds that are made available through local governments or non-governmental organizations, like the Gates Foundation. Plants that small African farmers (who are mostly women) might farm, like virus-threatened cassava and banana (matoke), and drought-threatened corn (which he calls maize). Or small south Asian farmers might farm, like virus-threatened papaya and insect-threatened cotton and eggplant (which he calls brinjal).Even after switching sides, Mark Lynas still respects many of his former colleagues. People like George Monbiot, a former neighbor of Lynas's and an environmental columnist for the Guardian newspaper. Indeed, Seeds of Science is as much a personal tale -- an autobiography -- as it is an argument for using GMOs. There's little preaching or polemic. Instead, there is soul searching and conversation with both sides.Feelings run high about issues like GMOs. Facts don't mean as much as feelings. Atavistic tribal feelings trump scientific facts, on both sides. People tend to first take a position, and then find facts to confirm their position.Mark Lynas tries to take a more nuanced stance in Seeds of Science. To a large degree, he is successful. It was very interesting to me to read how he changed his mind and what he thought then and thinks now. The stories make the book as much as the facts and science. That makes the book one to read no matter which side of the GMO debate you stand on.Because like them or not, GMOs can bring big benefits to people like the women farmers of Africa, who struggle against pests, disease and drought using tools from the Middle Ages. If we deny them the option to use modern tools like GMO seeds -- and with current policies we do -- at least we should be sure we understand why we do it.
