I did a lot of research before purchasing a cursive writing practice book for my 15yo. This book was an excellent choice. It really works it’s way up through the alphabet and into short paragraphs. Sadly, she was only taught a little cursive writing in the 3rd grade and she never felt comfortable writing it outside of those lessons. We’ve tried practicing in the past, but she wasn’t very motivated. However, after speaking to an SAT tutor, who recommended that she practice cursive writing, she was finally motivated to do so. I am shocked at her improvement in just a few weeks of practice! I recommend this book to anyone who would like to learn or improve cursive writing skills.
Purchased for my high school sophomore because our school system stopped teaching in elementary school. Highly recommend.
I am thoroughly enjoying this instructional workbook. I never learned cursive writing in school. I wasn't ever taught proper stroke order so the letters never flowed correctly and so I just didn't learn. This workbook is easy to understand and gives step by step instructions. I highly recommend for any age.
This book helped me to start writing English cursive in 3 wks. It is improved my writing speed skills as well. I am very happy with my accomplishment as a result of using this book.
I know cursive writing but wanted to hone my skill so my writing is more consistent and legible.The most famous book for this task is Spencerian Penmanship. Although Spencerian style is elegant and beautiful, I found that it is too fancy for the everyday task and harder to master.90% of the cursive writing books are targeted for 3-6 grades and not for adults. So I bought both Advanced Cursive Handwriting by Julie Harper & The Art of Cursive Handwriting by Jenny Pearson.I would have given higher ratings if I just bought one of the books as I would not have known better. But comparing both books I found that they used the exact same computer fonts for the cursive writing illustration, and not actual work that is written or illustrated by the authors. Compared to Spencerian Penmanship where all the illustration are demonstrated by a skilled teacher.So what's the problem with computer fonts?First, it might be more practical if they just sell me the font for $10 so I can print my own practice sheets.Second, handwriting is not printing, I want to learn a style of cursive writing that is ergonomic, efficient and legible for note taking and everyday task. Two of the characters (e & b) in the computer font they used are not ergonomic and efficient to write.In one of the pages, the author even admitted this - "some people smooth out the lowercase cursive 'e' such that it appears more like a shorter version of the cursive 'l'. This may make it more natural or efficient to write the lowercase 'e'"Well then, why should I follow all the 'e' & 'b' in the samples if it's not natural or efficient to write?Finally, the written form of the uppercase 'G' and 'I' (again, computer font) are ambiguous (the uppercase 'G' can be easily mistaken for uppercase 'S', the uppercase 'I' can be easily mistaken for lowercase 'l').Again, even the author mentioned this drawback - "another way the cursive letters can seem tricky is when two or more letters have a similar appearance. For example, compare the uppercase cursive 'G' to the uppercase cursive 'S'"Well then, why not teach us to write the uppercase 'G' & 'I' in another way such that they are not ambiguous? Like the style used in Spencerian Penmanship or other variants?
This book came within a VERY timely manner, and in a day and age where cursive is no longer being taught in our schools, this product is a staple for children and adults alike to learn cursive writing. This book was in perfect condition, and is bigger than we expected (not in size of book itself, but as in page count) and we were greatly pleased! Thank you very much
This is an excellent book for teaching oneself cursive handwriting. There are lots of practice sessions with plenty of space to practice one's handwriting. I learned cursive handwriting as a child but for some reason switched to a combination of cursive and print in later years. This book was excellent in re-teaching me the basics once again.
Bought this for my granddaughter who has austism and has learning difficulties. they don't teach cursive any more in our schools and I thought she might like to try something different as she is so tired of trying to satisfy instructors with her fine motor skills. So far she has enjoyed it, but it might just be because of the novelty of it. I also bought set of well balanced pens.
