I have been using this strategy guide for 4 years to help students prepare for the ACT. While it is excellent overall for strategies - the company has failed to update it for many of the changes that have occurred in the ACT. They did update the writing portion - I was glad to see that. But the science strategy section has not been updated. There are no longer 3 of each kind of graphics and experiment passages with one fighting scientist passage - yet the strategies still focus on that.The types of math problems in the actual exam have also been updated to reflect more of the common core methods used, and yet I still see the same math tests that have been in the book for the last 4 years.The reading has at least been updated to reflect the one passage that will have 2 authors for compare and contrast.Overall the strategies are still good - but I am not very impressed with a company who cannot keep abreast of the latest changes in one of the 2 major tests our students will take to get admitted to college. To be fair - even the "official ACT" guide is behind in the changes. Other than the first test in that guide - all the other tests are the same old tests from past years.

It is a replication of the 2016 edition. It has only four tests. Cannot find and print the other 4 tests.

This book has great strategies, use them in conjunction with the tests for practice. Gradually transition to timed tests. Good luck, but if you study well, you won't need it.

The book has a lot of different strategies and a great CD complement. I would recommend this book to anyone studying for the ACT.

My daughter raised her score by 2 points because of how this book taught her to work the problems and how to study.

We have tried many preps, tbis is easy to use and has very good tips

I took the test 3 times, scoring 30,28, and then a 29. I studied each chapter, following the online 4 week plan (which i completed in 2 weeks). I took every practice test in the book in addition to taking notes on each chapter. Additionally, i took 5 practice tests from the official 3rd edition ACT book. So between using the strategies and applying my new knowledge, i scored a 32, with 34's on english and reading (a 4-5 point increase from my previous scores), a 30 on math (1 point increase), and a 30 on science (decreased from my first score but, 2-3 points higher than my average score)

I loved this quickie story. It's pure fantasy fun. You know that friend that wants to know everything about you? That's how I felt about Hailey and Gage.I couldn't enjoy this story more unless I was experiencing it myself. My only complaint would be it was too short because I loved these characters and the insta love that is 6 months in the making.Can't wait for book 2. Yes, it's a standalone but I can't wait for their friends to experience a love like Hailey and Gage.

I read this book a few years back and remembered how much I enjoyed it and decided to do a re-read.This story is about a shy, reserved woman trapped in a strippers body. She and her girlfriends are having a get together and notice a man standing in his window across the way completely naked. He notices her as well but they do not act on their instant attraction to each other. The mystery man, who the girls named Mr Tool, becomes their weekly show. He struts his stuff, while working up the courage to ask her out, and she fantasized about him regularly.Very hot and steamy with some laughs as well. Great family dynamics between Gage and his brothers Dylan and Derrick, and their Mum, Barbara.At the time when I originally read this it was the first in the series and none of the others were out, now there are 4 more. I will definitely be checking them out.

This short novella of only 80 pages or so was a good story, but had so much unrealized potential. The plot would have made for a great full-length book where the reader could get a complete sense of the characters-- as is, it was mostly a sex romp that didn't offer anything special and emphasized the lack of depth. A good read, but not worth the money paid-- admittedly, my fault for not checking the page count before download.

Loved this story. The girlfriends watching the hottie across the way. Sex and the City banter watching Mr. Tool put on a show. He shows he knows his way around his fantasy woman's body and he manages to deal with her "issues" in an interesting way. The hot start and sweet ending make it a great read. Now I want to know what The Warren twins, Derrick and Dylan are doing.

She and her friends get together every Friday night for some very specific girl time. Gathering around the window in her friend's apartment, lights off, snacks and drinks in hand, they look out the window and down into the apartment of the man they refer to as Mr. Tool.The man is smoking hot and has a habit of walking around his apartment barely clothed, sometimes not clothed at all (and aren't those happy nights!), with his lights on and his shades up. Hey, a girl's gotta grab whatever salacious fun she can, right? It's harmless and he's the man of her dreams - literally. Then she goes out to get some more booze for the girl's night and Mr. Tool confronts her about her and her friends' weekly activities.Mr. Tool...Gage for those who actually know him as more than just a bit of man candy, gives Hailey an ultimatum. Either she goes out on a date with him, or he calls the cops and files a complaint about her and her friends' weekly peeping.For six months Gage has been hoping for a chance with Hailey. She had moved out of the complex before he worked up the courage to talk to her, but he caught her and her friends spying on him one night and has gone out of his way to make sure she has plenty to see ever since. True, blackmailing the woman for a date isn't exactly the most gallant thing he's ever done, but it got the job done. Finally. Now, if he can just manage to get through the date without opening his mouth and sticking one or both feet into it.To say Gage is socially awkward around women would be a gross understatement. It makes starting a relationship hard, especially when he is as attracted to a woman as he is Hailey. A little blackmail seems a small matter for his pride, though, if it gets him a shot with Hailey.~*~This deliciously erotic little bit of yumminess was fun for a hot, quick read. The plot was a bit light, and I'm not sure I bought the whole gorgeous-guy-has-to-blackmail-a-girl-for-a-date concept, but the characters were likable and the sex was abundant and hot. Sometimes, that's all I need to be happy with an erotic novella like this.I liked that there was a surprisingly plentiful cast of secondary characters. The length of the story didn't give much room for them to be fleshed out very well, but spending time with Gage's family and Hailey's friends did add a bit of depth to both main characters. Depth that I enjoyed. I was amused by the relationship between Gage and his brothers and mother. Those weekly breakfast/guilt sessions and the sibling ribbings that went on seemed very natural to the characters and situations. I enjoyed them a lot.I wish that Harte had pushed the envelope of Gage's awkwardness around women even further, because he never really struck me that way when he was around Hailey. He certainly wasn't Mr. Charming, but to have built up the level of neurosis he had over his lack of ability to speak to women without saying something wrong, I would have expected him to be much, much worse than he was. Maybe if he'd been even more blunt, or less endearing with his clumsiness, I would have bought into it a bit more.Hailey didn't do much for me, really. She didn't annoy, but she's too familiar as the uptight, tightly wound Type A personality bordering on prissy. The girl with a killer bod and an ice maiden exterior fashioned from her fear of pain. I wish more originality had gone into her character, but she at least held her own.I'm not a fan of the quick-to-love theme in romance, even in erotic novellas. That, for me, was the bigger issue with the story. I wish the romance had been given a longer lead time, even if it had been in condensed form. I also would have liked a meatier plot, and I'm no fan of relationship conflict that's nothing more than a failure to communicate, as it was here. Those are the things that held me back from completely liking what I read.It was hot, though, I'll say that. And I do have a soft spot for the themes of unrequited love (or lust) and love (lust) from afar, like Gage had for Hailey. He was kind of geeky-cute with his affections and I enjoyed that aspect very much. For a quick read that will definitely raise a gal's body temp, I'd recommend this one, but I personally would have liked more story and a less annoying conflict.~*~*~*~Reviewed for One Good Book Deserves Another.

Lord, this books starts off with a bang and does not stop! It's just one enjoyable, sexy time after another. It helps that Gage and Hailey are too cute together that you can't help but hope that it all ends well. Enjoy this book. I'm ready to read the next in the series now!

The book was good,it had humor and I really like them as a couple .might not read the 3 rd book.of the series. I don't know where it's going with the one twin being bi is not what I want to read about .

Ok this book was so short, and the characters weren't developed enough. Very unrealistic they were in love after like 1 date. But the book did have some good parts: it was super sweet, had an alpha male, and some pretty hot sex scenes.

In some sense this book is more about the importance of the free press than "bad science". Chapter 10 did not appear in the original version of the book because Goldacre was being sued for libel at the time; while its publication is vindication, one can imagine that others without Goldacre's tenacity and backing would have given up. While media's misrepresentation bears the brunt of Goldacre's wrath throughout the book, that the book ended up on many "best of the year" lists indicates that there are two sides to this story, and there is good and bad media just like good and bad science (but you knew that). Goldacre's book is really aimed at journalists - if those covering science and health issues would read this and take it to heart, we might all be better off. (On the other hand, I think that it's likely that those enlightened journalists would just be replaced, as their publishers are mainly interested in making sales. Goldacre points out that the status quo is not to have true science journalists cover "big" science/health stories, because they tend to drain the sensational and erroneous b.s. out of them.)Aside from all that, for the rest of us it's still a very worthwhile read, because we can never hear too many times that we should use the scientific method and embrace evidence-based medicine, and we rarely hear it in a voice as entertaining as Goldacre's. Like some of the less-favorable reviews point out, the book is a bit repetitive and shrill at times (Goldacre seems to have a particular ax to grind with yuppies with humanities backgrounds), and very Brit-centric, so some might say five stars is a stretch. If the subject matter were less important I'd probably agree, but taken as a whole package the combination of importance and readability makes it a standout. Strongly recommended.

Overall a very good and amusing book. I think the author does get a little passionate about some topics and rambles a bit, but it's an ok tradeoff.I do wish the author gave more defining criteria for some of the items he discusses, especially about homeopathy. I would like to know more about what kind of products he has referring to in some of his discussions.Quality: see the photo, but the printer messed up on some of the pages and makes it hard to read! I thought I was having a stroke!

I just finished reading Bad Science by Ben Goldacre, and it's the most important book I've read in a long time. It's not a thriller, it's a nonfiction work of popular science. But that description doesn't do this book justice. Bad Science has the power to change the world (for the better), if people would read it carefully and with an open mind. It rails against the anti-science winds sweeping our culture, and more importantly, empowers ordinary people of reasonable intelligence to think like scientists and protect themselves from so much unscientific claptrap dressed up as science that is for sale, is on the Internet, and even in respectable media such as newspapers.In fact, I believe Bad Science should be a mandatory part of all high school science curricula, or at the very least, required reading for all medical students (who in my experience are as vulnerable to pseudoscience as other people). Heck, whoever you are, if you haven't read this book, you need to.Ben Goldacre is a brainy muckraker who, with acerbic wit and unassailable accuracy, attacks anti-scientific BS and clearly explains how it cloaks itself in a scientific aura, and how it's wrong. The beautiful thing is, you don't have to be a scientist or even a particularly scientifically literate person to understand. Anybody with a brain can detect BS if given the proper tools.Goldacre's targets cover the spectrum from "quacks, hacks" to "big pharma flacks". He lays bare the alternative realities in which live detox treatments, ear candling, anti-aging cosmetics, homeopathy, diet experts, antioxidants, pharmaceutical companies with large advertising budgets, vaccine opponents, and most frightening of all, people who oppose antiretroviral therapy for AIDS and argue that HIV does not cause this disease.In my opinion, the author is utterly fair in his arguments. But he is not always nice. (Is there a reason why he should be?) Ben Goldacre is my new hero, slaying dragons of ignorance and going head-to-head in intellectual combat with some of the most hysterically irrational elements in society today.Along the way as you read this entertaining book, you'll learn what you need to know about clinical trials, about the power and limitations of statistics, and about how to think critically, to become a little Ben Goldacre yourself.My favorite quote from the book is one of the best science quotes of all time:The plural of "anecdote" is not "data".

Interesting book. Author writes well with a cynical sense of humor. He has a chapter where he pounds some nutritionist who I never heard of but is apparently a big deal in the author's native England. It seems like a personal vendetta of some sort. Anyhow, there's enough good stuff in here that makes it worthwhile. The book makes you look at "evidence" and "studies" in a whole new way, and how you can filter out promotional crap from reality.

I found this book to be very informative. It answered several questions I had about tree care. While I was not happy with some of the answers about the care of trees, the information did make me stop and reconsider what my next course of action should be, especially in regard to the use of chemicals. I also learned a lot about pruning. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends.

A pleasant, well written book about trees - hence four stars. The author likes and knows his subject.I would not call it "a complete guide". I was looking for information about pruning (the author only says that he is against it), about the way trees get ill, the way to recognize illness and help them recover, the way they interact with one another , with other plants or with fungi. On those points the book wasn't satysfying enough. But it was a nice read nevertheless.

Excellent information for the novice or well-seasoned gardener with emphasis on practical instructions for tree care. Also, includes engaging "talks" with some fine old trees!

A VERY comprehensive and clearly-written guide for taking care of our trees. The FAQs chapter was particularly helpful to me as it answered so many of my ongoing concerns with the many trees and shrubs on our property.

Quite a fun and informative read. Easy reading, full of great information. While it’s specific, it’s not “technical” or difficult to relate to my gardens or problems. Appreciate the frank and honest material with solid, pertinent solutions for the real world. After 30 years of gardening, I was surprised to learn so many helpful ideas. Happy to have purchased this informative book.

This book tells the truth about any tree you want to learn about. Steve has successfully helped us personally and where I for my job. He gives you decades of knowledge in a concise book. A must read!
