This book is really cheap, but still not worth the money. The book is helpfully organized by the size of your meeting (or in my case wedding reception), and a useful (if out of date) description of places that can hold that many people. That means, however, that there are only about 20 suggestions (per venue size) that will apply to you. I wanted something in MD, and there were only a handful of suggestions; most were in Alexandria. It also didn't give you much more than what you see on any wedding website for venues. Skip it.

Good book, deliver promptly, book condition meets our expectation. The book is a good guide to the places in DC, VA and MD great for parties, wedding and celebration.

This book is totally fine, but it's full of information from simple, obvious internet searches. It's nice to have something in your hands to look through, but other than that it's pretty unnecessary.

My husband and I are not from the DC area, but have settled here. We knew we wanted a DC area wedding, knew we wanted it outdoor, but didn't know where to go from there. This book breaks down sites by how many guests it can accomodate, and lets you know prices, rules, etc. This saved me hours of phone calls and pointless drives to sites that wouldn't have been right for us. If you know the DC area, this might not be the right book for you, but for us carpetbaggers, it was a lifesaver!

Absolutely wonderful reference book if you are looking for a place in the Washington, DC area to have a special party. Arranges different sites by size, area, type etc. Is very useful and convenient to use. Saves hours of phone calls!

This book was given as a gift to a friend. Published date is old but still has great venue suggestions.

This is a nice book. I bought it to compliment our "fantastic frogs" scholastic level 2 reader and the level 2 "fly guy presents: bats" book. We like this "amazing snakes!" book, but feel like it isn't as cool and exciting to read as the other two books we already had. The other two have a lot more pictures and have a very fun and interesting layout.

My daughter is 21 months old and loves animals. She actually picked this book out herself. She's very curious. She loves to look at the pictures as I read it to her. It does have a very easy to self - read format for younger children who are starting to read on their own. It also teaches the children snakes aren't mean or to be feared they are just part of the diverse world of nature. It explains the nature of snakes and their life cycle in very clear and easy to understand language. She loves the book and wants me to read it again and again. The pictures are great and well detailed. It is a colorful Animal Planet type book.

These illustrated interactive editions are absolutely gorgeous. If you’re only interested in the story there are cheaper simpler versions available, but if you want a collectible, beautiful edition to cherish you can’t do much better than this. It’s so nice you will want multiple copies, one for your children and one for you. The illustrations are fantastic and the interactive elements are imaginative and whimsical... think pop-ups, maps to unfold, letters to read, hidden shadows to discover and unfurl, a “croc clock” to spin... this is a gem to add to your library.

(': a lovely little thing. there's books of both the novel and the play on here; this is the novel, which is what i wanted.as for the story itself, i actually hadn't read it before or even seen the disney movie. i really love it, it's a great little fairy tale with lots of great lines and ideas (... besides the weird racist portrayal of natives; it is an old book after all.)if you like strange and whimsical but poetic and deep children's stories you'll like it. the style and flow of writing, the way you kind of just have to go with the strange logic and old-fashioned language, reminds me a lot of the alice in wonderland books, and a bit of the little prince, both which i also really love. ♥️

I had never read the “real” Peter Pan book, so I decided to see how close it was to what I’d seen on TV as a child, and later in “Hook”. This was one of my most loved movies as a child. (The Mary Martin version). I also liked the Robin Williams version as an adult. The book is similar, but Tink plays a very minor, rather mean roll. There is a LOT of killing and bloodshed in the book. The children are gone to Neverland for apparently months. Peter Pan can’t seem to remember anything other than the fact that he doesn’t want to grow up. But the basics were the same. And I enjoyed it. I think when it was written kids were tougher, and were not protected from every little thing like we protect them today, mostly with good reason. Books were a main source of adventure. There’s almost too much real killing in the world today to pretend about it in a book.

I love using this book with my 3rd graders as we study the fantasy genre. It is very well written and provides excellent opportunities for meaningful discussions about character traits and story elements. It is also a wonderful mentor text to use if you’re a Reader’s Workshop educator since you can easily use it to teach the good reader strategies.

This book looks as though I printed the cover from my home printer... so the quality lacks. However the text is complete and it's a great story. So if you don't judge the book by it's cover, its great.

Do not buy this copy. Note the title. Peter Pen. This is a publishing mistake being sold at market prices. I could get over this, but the type was so small with no spaces or margins, that clearly the goal was fewer pages to make more money. I was disgusted. I asked for a refund. There is no way anyone could read this along with a child. Magnifying glasses would need magnifying glasses. I ordered this for a treat. Felt totally scammed. Spare yourself. DIsgusted

Brought two copies for Christmas. One for my Niece and one for my Nephew. Both books are in superb condition, and the novels aren't too far from the original source material. I look forward to seeing their faces on Christmas morning.

As a writer I need to be keeping my eye sharp for grammar, punctuation, and formatting. This version of the book is kind of a mess. Chapter headings start in the middle of the page on the right, not in the top left corner. I can't read this and I need to return it. If you're not picky about such things, go for it. The writing is great.

Paul Butler's "Chokehold: Policing Black Men" is a comprehensive study into the psychology of America's criminal justice (or injustice) system. In "Chokehold" Butler answers critical questions concerning the impact of the American criminal justice system on African American men. He provides well documented support for his conclusion that the system is designed to subjugate African Americans. Given the central role of race in the allocation of societal resources, Butler cogently argues that correcting this system is not merely a matter of clearing up misconceptions through dialogue or adopting modest reforms. Instead, he postulates that the American criminal justice structure must be restructured from the ground up. Butler effectively conveys the point that policing will not change significantly for African Americans until such comprehensive change happens. Until then, African Americans (especially African American men) will remain under a chokehold. I recommend this book.

This is an excellent book. It is essentially written for younger black males but is a useful read for anyone interested in racial/social justice IMO. Mr. Butler covers a number of issues around the criminal (in)justice system as it applies to black men but he also makes clear that black women are also victimized both from the color of their skin and their gender. In spite of being an old white male, I applaud Mr. Butler and other contemporary authors who continue to pull the cover back on the truly appalling situation we have in America regarding racial/social injustice. Given the politics of the day I fear it will get worse before it gets better. I encourage my fellow white people to read with an open mind and step up and speak out.

Chokehold is a great and necessary book to read even though the content is difficult. Anyone who doesn't understand why they kneel, whether appropriate or not, will understand after reading this well-written book. It made me angry, outraged, and very sad. It is a necessary book for anyone who cares about our failing criminal justice system

A devastating description of what it's like to be policed while black in the US. I couldn't help wondering whether some of the grander claims were overstated but then considered the evidence presented and found it difficult to dispute.

Imagine what things could potentially be like, or the much-needed changes that could be made if every black person, especially the prominent ones, exercised this sort of courage, ingenuity, and altruism. Props to Mr. Butler, and to this extraordinary Book!

Excellent and thorough anaylsis of an unjust criminal justice system towards/against black men but also take an introspective detailed look into the violent culture among black men. Highly recommended for anyone interested in a honest and forward think solution to the problems facing the criminalization of black men in America.

But the techniques I use in the other mediums were not producing the results I wanted in watercolor. This is a clear, easy-to-read discussion on what to do. There are exercises that are easy to follow, and clear suggestions on how to proceed. Absolutely worth the investment.

Excellent. I made some of my most intriguing watercolour paintings after practicing the lessons on this book. There is focus on each part of the head and how to achieve depth with playing with value. I will go through this book’s lessons again and again.

His main area of research is the evolution of social behavior. He is currently studying the evolution of cooperation, aggression, antibiotic resistance, risk-taking behavior, and the interaction between genetic and cultural evolution. Dr. Dugatkin is the author of over 145 articles on evolution and behavior in journals such as Nature and The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and several trade monographs on the evolution of cooperation and the history of science. The book certainly taught me a lot of Thai ya about evolutionary biology, but it lacks a lot of the mathematical and theoretical practice problems that was heavily emphasized for my class akin to that in the textbooks.

This book was ordered as my textbook for my BIO 345 class on evolution at Arizona State University. I thought the book was good and contained a lot of useful information. Just wish it had electronic access.

Bought it for a class, didn’t open it. Got a B, probably could have got an A if I’d opened it.

Textbook has good information written in a way that is easy to understand. I would definitely recommend it.
