Emboldened and empowered by her remarkable journey to healing, she was inspired to help others heal through her private practice as a clinical psychotherapist who specializes in trauma. Scared Selfless is a first person account of child abuse, sex trafficking, child pornography and how one child grew into a woman who not only worked to overcome such horrors, but went on to become a licensed psychologist in order to help others make the transition from fear to love. As a counselor with over 25 years experience working with abuse survivors, I found this book to be a beautiful mix of personal testimony and psychological treatise on the elements necessary to bring healing to such trauma. While I highly recommend this book to both professionals and any who desire a greater understanding of these themes, the reader should be aware that this book contains a great deal of painful, shocking realities which might be triggering to some.

This was a hard book to read being a victim of child sexual abuse. I read it over a weekend and had different emotions while reading it. I felt guilty reading the details of what was going on in her life at the time, maybe because I had hid my memories so much in the back of my mind for so many years... I am not sure. I do wish that she explained a little more on what happened when she took her parents to court. (she mentioned it briefly in the book).

It was an awesome book! I loved the fact that even though Michelle went through hell....she overcame and conquered her fears. I suffer from PTSD myself and although it is not from abuse...rather from multiple major car accidents. I learned a great deal. I am still in counseling and making great progress, although I still have my bad days as well. Injuries after injuries...plus 13 surgeries and facing another it has been gruesome at times. I taught many years myself, but started having physical signs from not acknowledging my own pain. It came out in seizures and fainting spells. I will never give up just as you didn't...I am so proud of you and all the people you are helping with DID!!! :-)

In a first for me, I could.not.put.this.book.down until i reached the last page. I read memoirs, autobiographies, true crime - never has any account changed my mind as completely as this story. To this day I still don't understand grown women who proclaim to "love" their abusers. Those who allow their children to be abused are despicable, like the author's mother, who had no reason to fear for her own safety. Prior to reading this book, I also could not understand why children don't "tell." The author has done a wonderful job in explaining why, in a way that no one has done before. I get it now. On behalf of his victims I do feel cheated that the evil called Gary Lundquist never suffered a single day of the pain, humiliation and trauma he inflicted. One can only hope there really is a hell for him and his ilk. I also hope that Michelle knows there are many thousands of us who are proud of her and wish continued happiness and success in her future. Final!y, thank you, Michelle, for opening my eyes.

I almost put this book away several times because it was hard to read the detailed abuse she suffered. However, she writes so well and true and helps the reader understand SO much more than her story. I feel more educated on abuse, abusers, mental illness and a lot more. Michelle's story has inspired me to help others that experienced what she did. Although I am not a survivor of child abuse, I hope to make a difference in someone else's life that is.

I highly recommend this book. I know most people don't like reading about child abuse, child trafficking but I feel it's necessary to understand and have empathy since the news outlets often downplay how common and terrible child trafficking is. It's much easier to read news about celebrities and light hearted issues vs something as terrible as child trafficking. However, I learned quite a bit about how child abuse can effect a person's entire life.

Michelle's narrative is clear and powerful. In telling her truth, she is making a difference in more lives than she knows. If you've been there, she gets you, if you love someone who has been assaulted, she opens your eyes. The time I spent reading this book changed my life and outlook. Thank you.

I love the content, I believe the log centric approach is the right solution for a ton of problems and can't wait for Kafka to be more enterprise ready. I'm sorry but this is not a book. It is an article or something else small reprinted by O'Reilly. I didn't realize it only had 60 pages and a large percentage is overview information. For a price of $23 this was a complete waist.When this book grows up and has 300+ pages let me know and I may reconsider it. The topic is well needed and the author has the right background (which is why I bought it).

I generally trust anything that comes from O'Reilly. They tend to vet their content fairly well. This, unfortunately, is by far the worst book I've seen from them, or from any "technical" book in general. At roughly 50 pages, I didn't find there to be any concrete useful information. Within those pages, there are 19 diagrams: one is a log snippet, and 3 more are art works that have nothing to do with logs.Overall, the book is like an extended blog post. There is some high-level description about tools that might help you deal with scalability issues with your logs. In fact, the "book" almost reads like a promo for Kafka. If you are familiar scalability and enterprise patterns, you'll be extremely disappointed with this book since it is all common sense. If this is your first foray into that realm, maybe there is something useful for you, but I can't see what that would be.

I am extremely disappointed in thinking there was anything to be gained from this book. Having just got it in the mail today, I will be returning it ASAP. This is not a book, it is more like the author wanted to put something out there and pretend to be an author...the contents of the book is anything but informative or insightful, a blog post would have been more appropriate.

I really expected more from this. It's absolutely tiny.If you're the type of person who is inclined to buy a book on logging then there's nothing in here you don't already know.The main book is 46 pages of "technical manager" summary.Very disappointing.

I'd read Kreps' fantastic blog article on this instead.

Named for a type of Shaolin martial arts, the Clan consists of Diggs-The RZA-two of his cousins, and six other members. The author shares all that went into making the group what it is, a curious mix of Eastern philosophy, supreme mathematics, capitalism, and, not least, talent. Nearly a quarter of the book is dedicated to lyrics, including a deep analysis of what each rapper meant. The Wu-Tang's lyrics are full of violence, drugs, and slang, but also well-executed metaphors, symbolism, and their philosophy realized. It's rare that rap lyrics are given this level of analysis, let alone in such a readable fashion. The book is full of photographs of the members and information about their work and interests, which include drugs, both legal and illegal. Even this topic is treated with intellectual detachment: "You can't say [drugs] are all bad or they're all good." (Sadly, since the book's publication, founding member ODB died from a drug-related incident.) Whether you like WU-TANG or not this book is fantastic.The books is a fantastic story about life in NYC, how the members met, grew up and their life experiences.Besides being a wu-tang fan I have read many auto-biographies and biographies and few begin to compare to the wu-manual.The book is fun, exciting, dramatic, captivating and inspiring. If your even thinking about purchasing this book just stop and buy it its worth the cream.My first copy I spilled a drink on and ruined it. I didn't think twice about purchasing another copy.

This book was listed as new but the edges were damaged and the binding even had some tears. Pretty disappointed since this was a gift.

If you are a fan of hip hop, an artist, a hustler or whatever, you would do well to read this book. RZA expands on the concepts of supreme mathematics, cinema, brotherhood, the music biz and most importantly philosophy. The book was very insightful and really explained the truth the birth of the Wu Tang, its members and its ideals. RZA is a true 21st century renaissance man. I was not the biggest Wu fan ever but I wanted to check this book out none the less and Im glad I did. Its not a especially long read but you will enjoy it if you are a fan of the culture. Pick this book up, it will be well worth it

I ordered this book new and it came really dirty. It was covered in stains. They were on both covers of the book and all the sides. The edges were bent as well as the front cover.

To start i love music. Ive always loved the WU TANG CLAN but after reading this book along with "The Tao of Wu" I got a different understanding of where their lyrics and style comes from. I have passed this book to a couple of friends and they also enjoyed it because they also said that it give them a different outlook on the music.

Can't wait to read it!

I love that this is a Christian book! The love stories are so sweet and pure. I get so disgusted that so many of the books written today are no more than verbal pornography! Many of the books have a fairly good story line but are ruined with the explicit 20-30 page sex scenes. That is not the case with these books. The plots are great and the stories well told without any sex scenes. These stories are well researched and edited and are grammatically correct. I very much enjoyed reading them. Thank you!!

An Amish Winter is a heartfelt Amish collection of stories. I could not stop reading this book. Each tale grabbed my full attention. I was inspired. Especially, the one couple who were not Amish yet were relying heavily on that community for help. No home, no money, and barely any items of their own, a young couple struggle daily. But it's their love and faith in each other that helps pull them through. The Amish friends encouraged them in prayer, faith, and love. It was one of the most beautiful parts in this collection. Sweet, entertaining, and emotionally charged, this group of writers, have a way with words. Overall, I highly recommend reading, An Amish Winter.Â

I liked the stories but i didn't like the book it was to small and the letters was to hard to see and it was to hard to hold it was to small for all the pages that was there.it was a pocket paper back instead of a regular paper back As i said the stories was fine but the setup of the book was not. i will not buy a pocket paper back book again regular paper back book is fine.

I gave this book five-star rating because each story was a jewel! Just the right amount of family interactions & ups & downs that go into making a tale to make the reader not want to put the book down. Lovely glances into Amish life.I definitely will recommend this collection to friends & family.

Wonderful stories, these authors are great storytellers. Their stories move right along, never dull. Hard to put down. Maybe people will learn to speak their mind and what is in their heart.

This was a very good book. Each story was very interesting and also different. I would have liked each book to have been a little longer and included the marriage.
