As an experienced woodburner I purchased the book with specific items in mind and Ms Irish (as typical of her excellent services) included very much more.While the book afforded detailed tutorials, hints and a number of fascinating projects that were both educational and interesting, the characteristics and the use of various woodburners is demonstrated in great detail. This aspect and the tutorials are superbly done and each alone worth the purchase. The projects begin at the novice level and build upon each preceding effort. Tools, materials, and preperation are clearly explained and step-by-step project instructions are clearly illustrated.

I am a beginner and this is the book sitting by my side as I learn. Every step is broken down in detail. Not like some books which give you a sample of the authors work and then basically tell you to go do it, Irish's book gives you detailed instruction on HOW to do it. Projects grouped as beginner intermediate and advanced. I have gotten a number of books to help learn pyrography and this the best on on the shelf.

This is a very well written and illistrated book by one of my most admired artists. What makes the book so good is the author's ability to TEACH. Many artists can show you their work, but being able to teach you how to do what they do is what makes a great artist a great teacher. This book will provide you with valuable insight into the techniques that Lora Irish uses and I believe you will finish this book a better Pyrography wood-burner than you were before reading it, especially if you are new to this hobby.

This book is beyond great, I love the exercises and stencils. This book is educational with many valuable tips. I would recommend this book to beginners.

"The Great Book of Pyrography" is a wonderful resource for someone starting out in pyrography and hoping to advance. The book covers techniques from most basic to advanced in a clear manner with tons of illustrations and photos.I especially appreciated the explanation of both using a more basic single temperature tool (inexpensive and the one most beginners would be using) and the more advanced multi-temp tool.By following the chapters in the book from beginning to end, especially utilizing the practice board (using 1x1 squares on a larger board to test various techniques) the reader can quickly learn and improve their skill level.

I wish it had designs with Christmas and other holiday ideas/patterns.

I bought the book to enhance my knowledge of diesel engines. I own two Cummins diesels and have many customers that own diesels. The book is well written, easily read, easy to understand, and well organized. Its a text book so a little previous knowledge with diesels is helpful. The information is presented in theory as most text books are and has a work book that goes along with it to enhance your learning experience if you wish to buy it separate. The end of the chapters also have review questions if your interested in serious learning. I would recommend this book to anyone studying diesel engines. Remember its a text book not a tech manual. The book was in great shape & I received it promptly when ordered from the seller. I would buy from them again.

well done book, I got some good ideas. I have a small city lot and also have some physical limitations, so some things in the book are not possible for me, but I am just going to use basic ideas and build miniature size medicine wheels that still provide me with the sacred space and sacred energy that meet my needs.

I'm taking my time reading this book so I don't really have anything detailed to say about it's content. I meant to read it as I do many of my books, but there are always those that make one stop and ponder and this is one of them.I actually bought the book for the herbal information, with an eye to maybe creating a garden in our small patch of a yard and found that, as written, it is a meditation in itself. So I'm treating it as such because the information is provided in this quiet, serene approach that draws ones total attention and focus.A lovely, well-written book; worth taking my time to read.

I bought this for my mom who made a 30 ft by 30ft Medicine wheel and she used this and one other book as a guide and inspiration. It is absolutley beautiful and has a beautiful energy in it thanks to the ideas in this book.

I built a Medicine Wheel in a garden area I wanted to re-do recently and then saw this book. I have experience in different herbs and plants and thought I could make a good one. In fact, I did. However, I bought this book thinking I could get more ideas. I was right. This is a book I refer to often. Daily, when I first received it. Very informative. I could not put it down and the book traveled with me everywhere for at the first 2 weeks. I remains a prominent part of my reference material.

We created a 30 foot diameter wheel with a fire pit in center made of pavers and stone dust. we are in process of raising funds to add medicinal plants arranged by color to the wheel.

St. Paul is the great fund raiser and dogma developer for the Christian church. While fighting off St. Paul's homosexual advances, St. Timothy experiences the charismatic St. Paul and his miraculous stage show from up close. The business interests from the future, namely NBC and its parent company General Electric, plan to utilize their time travel technology to allow them to transport a television crew back to the time of the Crucifixion at Golgotha. With the intent of sweeping the TV ratings, studio executives are transported to 96 AD in the form of holograms. St. Timothy is their main contact; the executives spare no expense to help St. Timothy prepare his Gospel. Apparently, a mysterious hacker has accessed history at its core and is erasing all other historical documentations of Jesus and his early church. So, St. Timothy must negotiate with self-serving holograms from the future. At times, he will have two holograms of the same person in his room, sent back from the future, but from ten years apart, so their holograms will be of varying quality.Gore Vidal takes a cynical and heretical view of religion and emphasizes Christianity's objectives as self-promotion in pursuit of the all mighty dollar. St. Paul is a charismatic marketer who rolls into a town with his dog-and-pony show. Sometimes, he is taken in and provided large sums of money, other times; he is nearly stoned to death. Vidal makes references to Saint Paul's Holy Rolodex of names used for fundraising and of Jesus' attempt to lower the Prime Rate as the real reason for Jesus' ousting of the money-lenders from the temple.With the aid of worldly knowledge he gains from a television that is transported back through time, St. Timothy transforms from an innocent apostle's assistant to an aggressive deal maker. This book is inspiring and informative. It takes the reader behind the scenes of an author and chronicles his artistic awakening and the beginnings of his creative output. At Makerere University College, a famous institution in Kampala, Uganda, Thiong'o found his calling as a writer, a weaver of dreams. His early disappointment when his winning play was not produced at the Kampala National Theatre was followed by many triumphs. His writing output as a student is impressive--novels, short stories, plays, essays, and numerous published journalistic articles. In the background, colonization was ending. He entered Makerere as a colonized person; he left as "a citizen of an independent Kenya."

I truly enjoyed reading this book; so much so, that I finished reading it in two business days. I truly enjoyed getting deeper and first hand insight into how an African experienced the period of transition from European rule to independence. And, I never realized the status of Makerere university.

Excellent memoir by the author who is long overdue for the Nobel prize in literature. He writes about history, colonialism, and his personal coming of age with nuance and inspiration.
