So where is an expert who has shown he can navigate this minefield?Meet Michael Benklifa.In his book “Profiting with Iron Condor Options”, Michael Hanania Benklifa shows with clear and reasoned examples and explanations and somewhat counter-intuitive thinking how the option trader can experience more of the thrill of victory with less of the agony of defeat by trading Iron Condor Options in a different way.In most options books, iron condors trades get a few pages. In ” Profiting with Iron Condor Options”, Mr. Benklifa doesn’t hold back in looking at these trades from many points of view.Here are just a few of the things I learned and found most interesting-• Why using a longer time period and giving back most of the credit received will result in more stable return in the long run without as much risk in getting wiped out.• Why trading close to expiration is so risky.• When the best time to enter the trade is and why.• Why managing the risk is just as important as or more important than the return.• Why this strategy should not be considered an income strategy.• Why being out of the market most much of the time is better.• Why no one, not mutual funds, private advisors or hedge funds will invest for you.And this is just the start. I liked the book so much I bought a physical copy and a kindle copy for my Ipad.For an option trader, Mr Benklifa is conservative and concerned just as much with risk reduction and keeping the earnings as with the returns in themselves. On page 106 he states, “There is no point in making a return of 40% if you are going to lose 50% or 100% in a single trade.”On staying in the trade through expiration he states on page 108, “There are no defensive strategies such as adjusting spreads this late in the game. You either take a loss or pray the market will move in your direction. Prayer as a risk management strategy is really the subject of another book.”In short, the book contains some of the best material in print on the subject of Iron Condors. Think Like an Options Trader gives traders a feel for how we must do math in our heads and on our spread sheets to analyze potential trades and manage our iron condor positions.I think I will spend a lot of time re-reading the first two chapters and referring to later chapters depending on what is happening in the options markets.It would be great for the author to publish a second edition with larger graphics, some improved definitions of IC trade sizes and widths as well as model spread sheets and calculators.What the book does for me is introduce me to trading SPX iron condors when implied volatility is spiking instead of trading ICs on more risky individual stocks. He also makes convincing arguments for taking partial profits of 60% to 80% of potential profits on specific trades. Waiting until expiration can be risky and costly, he advises.In other words, iron condors are risky trades that must be managed for reasonable profits, not maximized for the ultimate profits unless you can handle the risks involved.When you go for good trading opportunities and skip the weak and poor opportunities, you’re more likely to achieve your goals. Iron condors are not a monthly income strategy, the author warns. This is because there are months you don’t want to be trading them.Having read numerous books on options and stock trading, I highly recommend Think Like an Options Trader.

I have read a number of option trading books from Sheldon Natenberg's Option Volatility & Pricing to Jeff Augen's books. However, Michael Benklifa's "Profiting with Iron Condor Options" was the most practical and clearly explained option trading book that I have read. He is able to move past theoretical option pricing to more practical trading of the Iron Condor spread. After explaining the strategy, he walks us through a few trades in different market regimes such as 2008 crash, the Greek crisis and runaway equity markets of summer 2009.I think a lot of option trading books are theoretical and explain market making and delta hedging in depth. When they are catered to more retail traders, most option trading books provide a toolkit of various trades to put on depending on the market environment. This is one of the only books that provides a relatively market neutral strategy that can work well in almost all market environments. Trades only need to be setup about once a month and although you need to monitor your position and make adjustments when necessary, it is not necessarily consuming your entire day. I would recommend this book to any investor or trader that wants to invest with less involvement than day trading, and potentially higher returns with less risk.

Great advice from start to finish. As every decent financial guru says (or should say)- have your exit strategy planned before pulling the trigger.Make sure you know the risks and BE SURE to know the consequences and have a plan in place in case the stock price lands BETWEEN the STRIKE PRICES of either leg in your condor. (Your brokerage may not cover you to exercise your long position)I called TD Ameritrade and it's judged "case by case". (Whatever that means). I took it to mean that I needed to close my position immediately since I didn't have 500k to cover my ass in the event I was obligated to deliver shares of a stock I didn't own. Remember, if it blows through BOTH strike prices of your leg then you're covered. You exercise your long position and deliver the short while only losing the difference between the strikes. God help you if it's between strikes and big brother isn't there to front you the money on your long position.If you don't know what I mean, I either didn't explain this very well or you've got no business doing this strategy.Best of luck. This is a beautiful coffee table book reflecting all of the imagery and style of horse people. I enjoyed this book because unlike a lot of horsey books which focus on the animals, this one focused squarely on the people and their homes. It's also about the lifestyle of being part of the equestrian community. Some of the items photographed made me feel nostalgic like the cutesy horsey sweaters I remember my riding instructor wearing when I was a child. Others were more like interesting solutions to horse people problems, like what to do a giant collection of show ribbons amassed over the course of one's lifetime? For those who love the imagery of fox hunting, polo, kids in hunter shows on shaggy shetlands, ball gowns, etc. this book will make you swoon. The horsemanship portrayed here is not the horsemanship of a cowboy, but the horsemanship of the field, the polo field, the racetrack, and the show ring. I live in the city, and so I can't always look out the window to see my beloved rolling Maryland hills. This book is a good guide for bringing a bit of the country into my little city row house, though.

This is an incredibly awesome look at all things based around generations of primarily English, with some American, equine; history, traditions, fashion, decor, the horsey-set coming together. So well done, this gorgeous, large volume could actually serve as a “coffee table book.” A beautiful look into a way of life achieved via devotion to the “horse,” along with a bit of the upper crust.

For those in the equestrian world and for those who only dream about it, this book reveals the many aspects of riding, racing, hunting, jumping, decorating, dressing, entertaining, collecting, crafting and painting in relation to traditional country life with horses. I found fresh, lovely ideas for both indoors and out. My only complaint is that I desire more time to re-read and savor its pages. Until those hours arrive, this handsome book resides on a prominent table, where it augments a treasured equestrian vignette. Thank you to Vicky Moon for producing such an enticing and informative read. Thank you to my seller, who posted this book to me with great speed, and in absolutely "brand-new" condition. I highly recommend this book and this seller.

Changing your ways and making amends is far from easy, and Ava stumbles - a lot. But two things she has in spades are courage and stubbornness. And she'll need every bit of it if she wants to get away from her brother alive and then return to take back her family's throne.Only problem is, for that she'll need allies, and she's already burned her bridges.Like all the Four Kingdoms novels, Cellier's characters are very well rounded. The story world is well thought out and realistic. We get to see a lot more of it than we got to in book one, as we spend a good chunk of the story traveling.The romance is a good, slow burn romance of two people who have known each other a very long time and have a good deal of trust in each other already established before the story even begins. I highly recommend all the books in this series. they are well worth the read.

I recently had the pleasure of reading The Princess Fugitive, the second book in the Four Kingdoms series by Melanie Cellier, following the events of The Princess Companion. Since every book in this series is a retelling of a popular fairy tale, The Princess Fugitive was inspired by the story of "Little Red Riding Hood." However, it's quite clear from the book that there was no easy way to convert a fairy tale about a poor little girl visiting her granny into a novel about a cold and calculating princess. The book actually had very little to do with "Little Red Riding Hood" outside of a few superficial elements, including a prized red cape that the main character likes to wear often.I was very impressed by how fast the pacing was in The Princess Fugitive compared to The Princess Companion as well as the heightened levels of suspense. Perhaps that was because it had a more interesting main character. Princess Ava was actually the villain from The Princess Companion, but she goes through a great deal of growth in this book to redeem her past mistakes, making her easy to relate to. The story reminded me a lot of Palace of Lies by Margaret Peterson Haddix, which was also about a calculating princess who learned how to trust after being forced to evacuate the palace. The setting of Rangmeros is very similar to the Lakti kingdom from The Lost Kingdom of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine. Both kingdoms are ruled by a long line of conquerors who prefer going to war over helping their people.The story starts off very exciting with Ava narrowly escaping an attempt on her life and running away with her royal guard to go into hiding from the imminent danger. Her militant upbringing makes her repulsive to her Fairy Godmother, who refuses to help her at first, but does so anyway at the prompting of a higher power with subtle religious connotations. Armed with her new disguise, Ava and Hans take on the role of commoners and join a band of traveling merchants. Among them are two cousins, Sarah and Evelyn, who are complementary opposites. Sarah is outgoing and loves to play dress up, while Evelyn is a tough-as-nails guard who takes her responsibilities very seriously. With their help, Ava learns to open herself up to feeling emotions again and gradually sheds the "wolf" exterior that her father instilled in her.I loved how action-packed this book was from beginning to end. Ava's determination to take back her kingdom against all odds makes her an admirable heroine, and the lingering danger of getting discovered by her attackers at any moment kept me on the edge of my seat. It never got too frightening because her beloved Hans was always at her side to protect her at a moment's notice. Their romance was a lot more interesting than that of the oblivious Alyssa from The Princess Companion. Ava and Hans were both well aware of their feelings for each other but were trained from childhood to repress their emotions due to their responsibilities at court. It made the few romantic moments that they were able to share all the more precious.Since so much of this story was about Ava's learning to trust, it was very important that the characters she met along the way were unique enough to help foster her emotional growth. Sarah and Evelyn fit that bill perfectly. They are main characters in the next novella in the series Happily Ever Afters, which takes place after the events of The Princess Fugitive. Sarah and Evelyn have an adorable sisterly relationship, though they are very different in personality. As soon as Sarah learns Ava's true identity as a princess, she eagerly leaps into all of the benefits a royal friendship would entail and proceeds to immediately raid Ava's closet just as any true girlfriend would do. Evelyn is usually quite serious, but Sarah knows how to get her to lighten up. Evelyn reminded me a lot of Cassandra, Rapunzel's lady-in-waiting from Tangled: The Series.Overall, The Princess Fugitive is an exciting story with an intriguing heroine that is superior in almost every way to its predecessor, The Princess Companion. It has lots of action-packed adventure, fun characters, suspense, and a little mystery. It made me eager to learn more about the many other books that Melanie Cellier has written in the series. If you'd like to read another book that's loosely inspired by "Little Red Riding Hood," check out Blood Red, the novella I wrote in 2013 about a famous actress whose life turns upside down when she learns about the dangerous secrets of her past.

I am thirteen years old and writing under my father's account. I love fairytales, but up until very recently I've not really cared for retellings. Fantasy is more of my thing-- but then I discovered Melanie Cellier, champion of building a believable world with a healthy blend of fairytale magic, fantasy, and best of all Christianity! Well, sort of. If you would count that as an allegory. Princess Ava's journey was a beautiful story of determination, discovery, friendship, true love, and just a dash of the High King's "magic". Ava's redemption actually reminds me more of Helga from The Marsh King's Daughter than Red Riding Hood. But Melanie Cellier is great at weaving fairytale magic into a brand new and wonderfully reimagined tale. I loved getting to see the characters from the prequel to the book, and meeting Sarah and Evelyn was a real treat. I got to the party a little late, but that's okay, because I'm reading all her books! I hope that I can be an author to match Ms. Cellier's skill one day. All I can say is, read this book. You will (probably) not regret it. Or at least try the other books in the Four Kingdoms/Beyond the Four Kingdoms series!

This book was a fun twist on Red Riding Hood, and the characters had the same fun, lighthearted but serious flare as in the first book in this series. I enjoyed the read but found it not quite of the same quality of writing as the first book. There were a few places where I found if very easy to set aside this book for other things, and the twists didn't come as such a surprise, though I wouldn't call it predictable. All in all it was an enjoyable read but not my favorite of the series. If you're buying the series I do suggest having this book to complete the collection, but don't base your idea of Melanie Cellier's work off if it; her other books are much better.

Princess Ava was molded to be cunning and know her way to influence court. However, when someone makes an assassination attempt on her, she is on the run with her trusted Personal Royal Guard.She asks help from her Fairy Godmother, but Ava doesn't see much use in it until she realizes. She is being chased by her older brother.She learns about the High King who over rules the four kingdoms and beyond. She quest to find Him and then follows through with his request.I really enjoy this story of forgiveness and change. It speaks volumes since we are all not perfect and have things in our life that need change.Yes, read this book series!

About 40 years ago I used to believe, foolishly, that people who accept demonstrable reality if and when they see evidence showing that reality is true. I even foolishly believed that evidence would cause people to reject their false beliefs. Crazy, eh? I now know better, and so do sociologists, psychiatrists, and psychologists--- evidence does not convince people who have an emotional, invested commitment to believing something even when they see their belief is false: in fact it makes them believe their falsehoods more / "stronger."Thus when it came to human-caused climate change, which geophysicists have been warning us all about for over 100 years, I foolishly believed that Free Market Justice Warriors merely needed to look at the evidence and then agree with ~99.99% of the world's geophysicists on the issue. I had no idea that their political identity collectives cause political ideologues to entrench themselves deeper in to their insane, irrational, anti-reality, anti-sanity beliefs.The above is why I like this book: it explains demonstrable reality in a fun way, and the anti-science cultists really hate seeing reality defended so perfectly and in an entertaining way.A relatively short list of things that point strongly to human induced climate change:1. Observations from all over the globe directly measure significant increases in CO2 and CH4 concentrations.2. Water Vapor, Methane, Nitrous Oxide, and Carbon Dioxide, despite making up only 1% of the atmosphere, make the difference between the earth being an uninhabitable ice ball and it being a living breathing planet. (a 60 degree F difference!). In other words, a little bit can do a lot.3. Carbon Isotopes prove the CO2 increase is due to the burning of fossil fuels, and not some natural occurrence.4. Global temperatures are increasing in a stair step manner, which is consistent with an external force being imposed on a cyclical (sinusoidal like) climate system. No climate scientist worth their salt ever expected a linear increase in global temperature.5. Record high max temps as well as record high min temps are outpacing record low temps and record low max temps by a wide margin.6. The troposphere is warming while the stratosphere is cooling. If it were the sun, both would behave in a similar fashion and both would be cooling.7. Outgoing long wave radiation from the earth is decreasing, and is emanating from a higher and higher altitude.8. Arctic sea ice is at an all-time low for this time of year, and the "melting season" is just beginning.9. All global temperature data sets, including the satellite record, recorded February of 2016 as the warmest month ever by a wide margin. And by the way, the satellite record has required more revisions than any other temperature dataset out there. Since 1979, numerous revisions/corrections have changed the trend of the graph from cooling to slight cooling to no trend to slight warming to warming. It is not the messianic source of thermal measurement that some claim it to be.10. Ocean acidification is having significant impacts on the ocean's ecosystem.11. Sea level is rising demonstrably.Now, if someone can scientifically show that all of the above is irrelevant and/or wrong, I'm all ears.

Great to hear the considered wisdom of one of the world's leading climate scientists, Michael Mann who has faced intimidation and death threats for speaking the truth. This shows how climate science threatens the very basis of our lives. Mann writes really well for both scientists and the public.I was looking forward to the cartoons in this book, but there weren't as many as I had hoped, and although they were poignant they were still a little disappointing.

Let me start by saying that if you already know a bit about climate change, and follow the recent news, this book is not really for you. This is more for the non-scientist that wants to know more, or the skeptic that is willing to open his mind.The book covers all of the known research and information is a clear and concise manner. It is easily readable, and covers everything from why the earth is warming to what possible solutions exist that are practical. It also debunks the deniers and the information they use to try to confuse the issue. If you have doubts about climate science or global warming, this is an excellent book to read.I highly recommend his book for those who are on the fence or who are willing to open their minds to new information. It might even be good for the member of the House of Representatives I heard recently say that he didn't believe climate science because they couldn't explain away past warming spells. Maybe I should send him this book!

Sadly dated as it was published before Trump was elected. But the basics of climate crisis and action required are sound. Depressing to see how politics is not answering the call but refreshing to see that business, largely, is.

I personally really liked this book. The text is clear and concise and the cartoons are humorous. My only real complaint is that it shows a bit too much political biases and I was looking for a book to give to my conservative friend who does not believe the science of climate change has been decided. With the current political climate (if you'll forgive the pun) it seems impossible to speak on climate change without a political bias and this book comes close. But I think some comments could have been omitted, such as praising Obama's use of executive action in general. But with that in mind, Mann also does a good job of pointing out that this was not always a partisan issue and gives many examples of Republicans who still agree with that.I definitely recommend this book to anyone curious about climate change and the history of its policy or lack thereof.

I have read about 15 books on climate change and this book covered all aspects very well. Everyone should read this book to understand what is happening and how to fix it.

The authors did an excellent job of documenting climate change and the many faces of climate denial. They really put the issue into perspective: It is a matter of survival of our planet, not a partisan debate. They also discuss the impact of the Trump administration to undermine climate change policies. If we could get science to prevail and join the rest of the world, we would have some chance of saving our way of life. I am 79 so will not impact me, but my grandkids. Wow

Michael Mann knows his subject and how to make the research easy to grasp for everyone. The authors show us what is happening with climate change, how climate change deniers respond, and the ways you can respond to the deniers. One of the best books I have read on the climate debate.

As a counselor with over 25 years experience working with abuse survivors, I found this book to be a beautiful mix of personal testimony and psychological treatise on the elements necessary to bring healing to such trauma. While I highly recommend this book to both professionals and any who desire a greater understanding of these themes, the reader should be aware that this book contains a great deal of painful, shocking realities which might be triggering to some.

This was a hard book to read being a victim of child sexual abuse. I read it over a weekend and had different emotions while reading it. I felt guilty reading the details of what was going on in her life at the time, maybe because I had hid my memories so much in the back of my mind for so many years... I am not sure. I do wish that she explained a little more on what happened when she took her parents to court. (she mentioned it briefly in the book).

It was an awesome book! I loved the fact that even though Michelle went through hell....she overcame and conquered her fears. I suffer from PTSD myself and although it is not from abuse...rather from multiple major car accidents. I learned a great deal. I am still in counseling and making great progress, although I still have my bad days as well. Injuries after injuries...plus 13 surgeries and facing another it has been gruesome at times. I taught many years myself, but started having physical signs from not acknowledging my own pain. It came out in seizures and fainting spells. I will never give up just as you didn't...I am so proud of you and all the people you are helping with DID!!! :-)

In a first for me, I could.not.put.this.book.down until i reached the last page. I read memoirs, autobiographies, true crime - never has any account changed my mind as completely as this story. To this day I still don't understand grown women who proclaim to "love" their abusers. Those who allow their children to be abused are despicable, like the author's mother, who had no reason to fear for her own safety. Prior to reading this book, I also could not understand why children don't "tell." The author has done a wonderful job in explaining why, in a way that no one has done before. I get it now. On behalf of his victims I do feel cheated that the evil called Gary Lundquist never suffered a single day of the pain, humiliation and trauma he inflicted. One can only hope there really is a hell for him and his ilk. I also hope that Michelle knows there are many thousands of us who are proud of her and wish continued happiness and success in her future. Final!y, thank you, Michelle, for opening my eyes.

I almost put this book away several times because it was hard to read the detailed abuse she suffered. However, she writes so well and true and helps the reader understand SO much more than her story. I feel more educated on abuse, abusers, mental illness and a lot more. Michelle's story has inspired me to help others that experienced what she did. Although I am not a survivor of child abuse, I hope to make a difference in someone else's life that is.

I highly recommend this book. I know most people don't like reading about child abuse, child trafficking but I feel it's necessary to understand and have empathy since the news outlets often downplay how common and terrible child trafficking is. It's much easier to read news about celebrities and light hearted issues vs something as terrible as child trafficking. However, I learned quite a bit about how child abuse can effect a person's entire life.

Michelle's narrative is clear and powerful. In telling her truth, she is making a difference in more lives than she knows. If you've been there, she gets you, if you love someone who has been assaulted, she opens your eyes. The time I spent reading this book changed my life and outlook. Thank you.

I love the content, I believe the log centric approach is the right solution for a ton of problems and can't wait for Kafka to be more enterprise ready. I'm sorry but this is not a book. It is an article or something else small reprinted by O'Reilly. I didn't realize it only had 60 pages and a large percentage is overview information. For a price of $23 this was a complete waist.When this book grows up and has 300+ pages let me know and I may reconsider it. The topic is well needed and the author has the right background (which is why I bought it).

I generally trust anything that comes from O'Reilly. They tend to vet their content fairly well. This, unfortunately, is by far the worst book I've seen from them, or from any "technical" book in general. At roughly 50 pages, I didn't find there to be any concrete useful information. Within those pages, there are 19 diagrams: one is a log snippet, and 3 more are art works that have nothing to do with logs.Overall, the book is like an extended blog post. There is some high-level description about tools that might help you deal with scalability issues with your logs. In fact, the "book" almost reads like a promo for Kafka. If you are familiar scalability and enterprise patterns, you'll be extremely disappointed with this book since it is all common sense. If this is your first foray into that realm, maybe there is something useful for you, but I can't see what that would be.

I am extremely disappointed in thinking there was anything to be gained from this book. Having just got it in the mail today, I will be returning it ASAP. This is not a book, it is more like the author wanted to put something out there and pretend to be an author...the contents of the book is anything but informative or insightful, a blog post would have been more appropriate.

I really expected more from this. It's absolutely tiny.If you're the type of person who is inclined to buy a book on logging then there's nothing in here you don't already know.The main book is 46 pages of "technical manager" summary.Very disappointing.

I'd read Kreps' fantastic blog article on this instead.

This is a little shorter than you might expect.

Probably the best short book I've ever read in the recent past on architecting event-oriented systems. Well done.
